The Chicken Sandwich Wars of 2021 will heat up for National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day Tuesday.
Fast-food chains including McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC have specials for the made-up food holiday, held annually on Nov. 9.
McDonald’s released three new chicken sandwiches in February and Burger King rolled out its Ch’King chicken sandwich in June. KFC also added a new chicken sandwich this year.
The major chicken sandwich war was launched in August 2019, a week after Popeyes launched its New Orleans-style fried chicken sandwich, which was its first nationwide chicken sandwich. The chain then started a viral Twitter feud with Chick-fil-A and other restaurants.

The nation’s chicken wars and cravings for comfort food during the pandemic have made poultry so scarce and expensive that some restaurants have had to limit chicken sandwiches, wings and tenders. Others have made changes to menus and promotions.
The next poultry conflict could be finding your Thanksgiving turkey, especially if you’re looking for a smaller bird.
Burger King: Free chicken sandwich
Burger King Royal Perks members get a free Ch’King (original, spicy or deluxe) with any purchase of $3 or more Tuesday.
Chick-fil-A National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day deal?
The chain didn’t share a National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day offer with USA TODAY, but you can earn rewards with the loyalty program. Also, some locations may have specials Tuesday.
Church’s Chicken: Free sandwich with DoorDash order
Church’s Chicken released its new Texas-Cut Bacon Chicken Sandwich last week and is giving it away free Tuesday with DoorDash orders of $20 or more.
For the launch of the new chicken sandwich, the chain also is gathering signatures for its national Change.org petition to reinstate Bacon, Texas and get it back on the map.
Del Taco: BOGO Chicken Taco deal
Del Taco’s Del Yeah! Rewards members get a BOGO Crispy Chicken Taco offer Tuesday. Rewards registration is required to access deals and there’s a limit of one offer per customer.
KFC Fried Chicken Sandwich Day freebie
Kentucky Fried Chicken is celebrating National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day with free chicken sandwiches on Uber Eats with a $15 minimum order. Choose from a free original or spicy KFC Chicken Sandwich.
Also, Tuesday through Thursday, while supplies last, customers who order a qualifying KFC bucket meal for delivery or pickup on KFC.com or the KFC app can claim a free Finger Lickin’ Chicken Mitten Bucket Hugger.
McDonald’s free fries, drink with chicken deal on app
Buy an eligible McDonald’s chicken sandwich, which includes the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Deluxe Chicken Sandwich and Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and get a medium fries and a medium soft drink for free with an offer in the fast-food chain’s app.

The New Orleans-style chain didn’t share a National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day offer with USA TODAY, but you can get a free side for joining the loyalty program.

Farmer Boys: From 2 p.m. to close Tuesday, get the chain’s Loaded Classic Fried Chicken Sandwich or the Loaded Fiery Fried Chicken Sandwich for $5 each. Limit two per customer, while supplies last.
Jollibee: The chain is offering people the chance to try its Chickenwich for free. “Over the past year, people might have faced chicken sandwich woes from other restaurants that range from dealing with soggy, dry, or bland chicken patties to sad buns,” the company told USA TODAY. “In return for any chicken sandwich distress they might have suffered, consumers can head to ChickenSandwichLawyer.com and enter their name and email to see if they are eligible to receive a free, crispy, juicy and tasty Jollibee Chickenwich – all while supplies last, and only at U.S. locations.”
Peet’s Coffee: The chain says its Chicken & Waffles Sandwich is on sale until early January.
