John Deere, United Auto Workers report reaching third tentative contract agreement amid strike – Des Moines Register

The Des Moines Register’s 11th installment of the Iowa high school athletes of the week for fall 2021 has been determined.

On the boys’ side, Williamsburg football standout Derek Weisskopf took home top honors. He received almost 58% of the more than 20,000 votes recorded. He beat out:

  • City High football standout Darren Richardson
  • Waverly-Shell Rock football standout McCrae Hagarty
  • Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley football standout Tanner Te Slaa
  • West Des Moines Valley football standout Dion Hutch

On the girls’ side, Burlington Notre Dame volleyball standout Gabby Deery took home top honors. She picked up more than 46% of the nearly 20,000 votes recorded. She beat out:   

  • Western Dubuque volleyball standout Madison Maahs
  • West Liberty volleyball standout Macy Daufeldt
  • Pleasant Valley volleyball standout Kora Ruff
  • Dike-New Hartford volleyball standout Payton Petersen
