Restaurants open on Christmas and Christmas Eve rake in customers
Some New Hampshire restaurants stay open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to accommodate people whose holiday traditions include going out to eat. Owner of Great NH Restaurants Tom Boucher said Christmas Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year at his Copper Door in Bedford. “This concept is a little more catered towards people coming out on holidays so we’re staying open until 8 o’clock tonight and it is reservations only,” Boucher said.Boucher said all of his restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day. “That’s an easy decision for us. We want our employees to enjoy Christmas,” Boucher said.The Red Arrow Diner has locations in Concord, Londonderry and Nashua that will be open until 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Their Manchester location will remain open 24 hours, according to Kayla McClellan, the assistant general manager of the Concord branch.”This whole week is kind of busy, it starts on the when everyone’s still doing their last-minute Christmas shopping so then everyone just piles in,” McClellan said.McClellan said people typically trickle in around 5:30 a.m. on Christmas, and business stays steady all day. “We just want to give everyone a nice meal and a chance to feel like they’re at home because we consider our customers family,” McClellan said.
