A Delta Air Lines plane flying to the United States from South Africa made a stop in Boston on its way to Atlanta on Sunday.Delta Flight 201 was initially scheduled to fly directly from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.A Delta spokesperson told NewsCenter 5 that the plane was making a “brief technical stop” at Logan International Airport in Boston for a flight crew change.”This has to do with technical specifications of our A350 aircraft and the payload of this particular flight,” reads a statement from the spokesperson. “Customers onboard have been made aware of the stop and we apologize for any inconvenience to their travel plans.” Passengers on the plane remained on the aircraft during the flight crew change at Logan Airport.The stop in Boston comes one day before new U.S. regulations on flights from South Africa and seven other countries go into effect.Delta Flight 201 landed at Logan Airport shortly after 9:25 a.m. Sunday and departed for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport just before 10:40 a.m.
