Publix Super Markets Inc. has announced it has signed a lease for a second store in Kentucky, this one also in Louisville, Louisville Business First reports.(Learn more about plans for the first location in the player above)It will be located in the area of Ballardsville and Brownsboro roads. Off the Gene Snyder, one would take the Crestwood exit north where Highway 22 meets Highway 1694 and Chamberlain lane. This location will feature a 55,701-square-foot Publix supermarket, including a drive-thru Publix Pharmacy and an adjacent 2,800-square-foot Publix Liquors offering beer, wine and spirits, the release stated.The store is anticipated to open in the first quarter of 2024; a grand opening date has not yet been determined.Publix CEO Todd Jones spoke on the supermarket chain’s continued growth in Kentucky.”We are proud to be planting roots in Jefferson County and look forward to building lifelong relationships with our new customers,” he said in the release. “With two planned stores currently in development, we are excited to continue sharing our Publix culture and commitment to service with the Bluegrass State.”In September, the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer announced it had signed a lease for its first Kentucky store in the Louisville area, at the intersection of Terra Crossing Boulevard and Old Henry Road in Jefferson County.That store is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2023.Read more on this story from Louisville Business First.
