Social Security recipients have all received their first checks for Jan. with the new 5.9% COLA increase, and now they’re waiting for Feb.’s.
This is the largest COLA increase in almost 40 years due to the rapid rate of inflation caused by the pandemic.
Following Dec. 2021, it was released that inflation reached 7%.

February 2022 Social Security payments
If you’re birthday lands between the first and tenth of the month, you’ll see your payment on Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Anyone with a birthday between the 11th and 20th can expect their payment on Wednesday, Feb. 16.
People collecting benefits with birthdays between the 21st and end of the month will see their payments on Wednesday Feb. 23.
Payments are sent every second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month.

Due to Jan. 1, 2022 being a holiday, people on SSI received their payments Dec. 30, 2021 instead of getting one in Jan.
Their next payment will be Feb. 1, 2022.
