Major U.S. stock indexes tumbled on Thursday, dragged down by technology and social-media companies, as Facebook owner Meta Platforms plunged after a disappointing earnings report.
The tech-focused Nasdaq Composite Index was down 3.7% as of 4 p.m. ET, near its lows on the day. The broader S&P 500 fell 2.4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.5%, or 519 points.
