FAIRFIELD, CT — Homes in one Fairfield zip code have risen in value by an average of more than $260,000 over the course of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the New Haven Register.
Local zip code 06890 was among those in Fairfield County with the greatest average monetary value increase from 2020 to 2022, the Register reported, using data from real estate company Zillow. The average value growth for 06890 was $262,267, or just over 32 percent, according to the Register. Weston zip code 06883 saw an average value increase of more than 38 percent, or $280,345, while values in New Canaan zip code 06840 went up an average of $358,189, or 29.56 percent, the Register said.

The Register attributed the rising prices to Manhattanites, who came to Fairfield County during the pandemic because of the area’s convenient transportation, relatively low tax rates and good schools, as well as the added flexibility provided by remote or hybrid work.
