Four Allegheny County Health Department mobile COVID-19 testing sites reopen Monday after they were closed for the Christmas holiday weekend. This comes as demand for testing soars across the country.There was a long line of cars Sunday at the Parkway Center Mall with people waiting to be tested.Dr. Amy Crawford, the vice-chair of Allegheny Health Network’s Primary Care Institute, shared some advice for those traveling or who were in large groups.”If you’ve been traveling, if you’ve been in large groups, and you have the sniffles or something that could be quite mild, then I would err on the side of testing before going back to work if you can; before you go back to school for sure,” she said.The owner of Spartan Pharmacy Adam Rice said he is seeing a surge of COVID-19 test requests that’s double what it normally is.”Now it’s not only your family but a New Year’s Eve celebrations typically with friends right so you have folks who aren’t necessarily within your familial circle looking to get together and enjoy New Year’s Eve,” Rice said.
