Wall Street kicked off the first trading day of 2022 with gains, as December’s “Santa Claus rally” carried into the new year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 247 points, or 0.7%, while the S&P 500 gained 0.6%, both setting new record closes. The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.2%.
