Spirit Airlines has added nonstop flights between Rochester and two vacation destinations starting this summer, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced Tuesday.
The Florida-based discount airline carrier will begin offering daily nonstop service between the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport and the Orlando International Airport, as well as nonstop service four times weekly between the Rochester airport and the Myrtle Beach International Airport, starting June 24.
Spirit Airlines will be the eighth airline to operate at the Rochester airport. Among them, Denver-based discount airline carrier Frontier launched service in May 2021.
“We can’t wait to welcome Rochester area residents on board our bright, yellow planes and offer them more go to exciting vacation destinations,” John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines, said in a news release. “With our low fares and nonstop flights, amusement park thrill seekers and beachgoers can take off on the quickest routes to the places they want to travel to the most.”
The airline boasts that it is the only airline to offer daily nonstop service between Rochester and Orlando.
“Whether you’re planning a family vacation to Disney World or Universal Studios in Orlando or a trip to Myrtle Beach for a golf getaway, Spirit Airlines offers a convenient and affordable way to travel to those two popular vacation destinations,” Bello said in a news release.
Spirit Airlines’ schedules are subject to change based on demand and conditions due to COVID-19. Starting Tuesday, passengers can book tickets on these new routes at spirit.com
