Products were sold at Market Basket, Big Y and Roche Brothers in Massachusetts

Three ice cream flavors sold at Market Basket, Big Y and Roche Brothers stores in Massachusetts are being recalled because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or older people, and others with weakened immune systems. It could also cause short-term symptoms in healthy individuals, including high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.In pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.The affected products were manufactured by The Royal Ice Cream Company, Inc., of Manchester, Connecticut. They were sold under the brand name Batch Ice Cream, according to an FDA announcement.Anyone who purchased the ice cream can return it to the store for a refund. Those with questions can call the company at 860-649-5358, Monday thru Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Affected flavors are Vanilla, Ginger, and Mocha Chip.
