Morris & Essex Lines & Gladstone Branch Service Information Following Severe Weather Impact – Effective Immediately | NJ TRANSIT | New Jersey Transit Corporation | New Jersey – NJ Transit

UPDATE: Limited service will operate Wednesday, March 9 between South Orange and New York/Hoboken; Gladstone Branch service will remain suspended.

The following service adjustments are in effect due to Monday night’s thunderstorms and high winds. The recent severe weather caused a large tree to fall on the Morris & Essex (M&E) lines tracks in Maplewood, damaging the catenary structure and the overhead wires the structure supports, before landing across the rail tracks. Customers are advised to visit for the latest service information and allow for extra travel time.

M&E and Gladstone Branch tickets and passes will be cross-honored on NJ TRANSIT’s Raritan Valley Line and Montclair-Boonton Line trains as well as on NJ TRANSIT bus and private carrier buses.

On Wednesday, March 9, limited service will operate on a modified schedule between South Orange and Penn Station New York/Hoboken. The Gladstone Branch will remain suspended until further notice.
