Easter is a time when rabbits, eggs, and the blood of Christ come together for a very confusing holiday. But what people love most about this day is the candy. Move over Michael Myers, the Easter bunny has got you beat! And while we all agree that the REAL holiday is on Cheap Ass Easter Candy Monday (when all the Easter candy goes on clearance), we, as a people, can’t decide WHICH candy is the best of the bunch. Instacart conducted a survey to crown the winner and the results are…interesting.
Now I’d like to preface the results of this survey with a friendly piece of advice: don’t start getting into brawls over whether or not a creme egg is better than a mini egg. Let’s keep this debate civil. We’re not on Twitter, after all! Anyway, Instacart asked more than 2000 people for their thoughts on Easter candies and provided a handy ranking system for us to argue over! via Fox59:
According to a recent Instacart survey of more than 2,000 Americans, more than half of respondents (65%) say Easter has the best seasonal candy. But which treats are the best of the best?
Instacart created a top ten America’s Favorite Easter Candies list, and chocolate treats are hopping away with the majority of spots.
Number one on the list is the treat that will forever be associated with Easter: the Cadbury Creme Egg. It’s followed by Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, which some people swear are better than a regular Reese’s cup.
Starburst’s Easter Jelly Beans were the most popular non-chocolate option at No. 3, followed by Brach’s Jelly Bird Eggs at No. 8 and PEEPS Yellow Marshmallow Chicks at No. 9.
PEEPS! How did PEEPS get the short end of the stick here?! They’re quintessentially Easter. Why do we refuse to collectively enjoy a marshmallow dyed in neon yellow and pink! But the US has decided that it’s really a battle between the Cadbury Creme Egg and Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg.
Instacart also created a US map outlining which candy each state can’t live without. It is here that you will discover who are the freak states that put jelly beans at the top (I’m looking at you, FLORIDA!!!).
The only thing that can cleanse the palate is if Mariah Carey does another Easter post where she settles the debate while wearing her sexiest Easter bunny outfit. It’s the only way to heal this nation’s great divide!
