Mavericks owner Mark Cuban buys small Texas town as a favor – Yahoo Sports

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, in a plot that feels way too similar to the hit show “Schitt’s Creek,” is now the owner of a small town in Texas.

Cuban purchased the town of Mustang, Texas, this week, according to The Dallas Morning News, and now controls all 77 acres of the Navarro County, Texas, community.

The longtime “Shark Tank” investor said a good friend needed to sell it, which is why he went through with the deal in the first place.

“I don’t know what, if anything, I will do with it,” he said, via the Morning News.

Mustang sits just outside of Corsicana, both of which are about an hour south of Dallas. The town had 23 people at the last census, and is basically home to just a trailer park and a strip club, per the report.

It’s not clear how much Cuban actually paid for the town, but it was listed for sale at about $4 million in 2017.

“I had a fair amount of interest in it, but it was priced too high — even when we bought it down to $2 million,” Dallas real estate broker Mike Turner told the Morning News. “The old strip club is not in good repair, but it could be redone for something.

“There is a resident alligator in one of the ponds.”

There was probably an easier, cheaper way for Cuban to get his hands on a new pet.
