Domino’s offering $3 tips to customers who pick up their own orders, but there’s a catch – MLive.com

ANN ARBOR, MI — Domino’s Pizza is offering customers the chance to make a tip of their own instead of having to pay one out as part of the company’s latest promotion.

Customers who place an online order and elect to pick up their food at the restaurant instead of having it delivered will receive a “tip” worth $3, but there’s a catch. The “tip” isn’t given to you as cash or even as a discount on the order you’re picking up, as it’s good for a future online order the following week. The future order requires a minimum purchase of $5 before tax and gratuity.

In a press release issued by the company, Domino’s says the “tip” can be combined with other deals and specials, but can only be used on a future order.

“It takes skill to get pizza from a Domino’s store to your door,” said Art D’Elia, Domino’s executive president – chief marketing officer. “As a reward, Domino’s is giving a $3 tip to online carryout customers who take the time and energy out of their day to act as their own delivery drivers. After all, we think they deserve it.”

The promotion runs through May 22, 2022 and is valid just in time for the Super Bowl on Feb. 13.

“Domino’s carryout tips come just in time for the biggest football game of the year, which is also one of the busiest days of the year for pizza,” D’Elia said. “Domino’s typically sells about 2 million pizzas on football’s favorite Sunday, so if you’re throwing a party and feeding hungry fans, make it a carryout order and get tipped! Then you can treat yourself to a delicious pizza with a great deal the week after.”
